Vladyslav Sokolovskyi Speaks on the "Energy Security" Panel at the Intersolar Europe Conference 2026

Our firm's Managing Partner and Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Solar Energy Association, Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, spoke on the "Energy Security" panel at the Intersolar Europe Conference 2026, where he presented Ukraine's experience in transforming its energy system under the conditions of a full-scale war to the international professional community.

During his presentation, he outlined the key trends shaping Ukraine's solar energy and battery energy storage systems (BESS) market and shared practical solutions already being implemented to strengthen the country's energy resilience.

Among the key takeaways from his presentation:

🔹 Up to 50% of Ukraine's power generation capacity (more than 20 GW) has been destroyed or damaged, making the deployment of distributed generation and battery energy storage systems one of the country's top priorities for rebuilding its energy system.
🔹 In 2025, Ukraine commissioned approximately 800 MW of new solar power capacity and more than 1 GWh of battery energy storage systems. By the end of 2026, the country is expected to add another 1.5 GW of solar generation capacity and over 3 GWh of BESS.
🔹 Battery energy storage systems have evolved from an alternative to diesel generators into a core component of energy security for businesses, local communities, and critical infrastructure. Market development has also been supported by the extension of tax incentives for imported equipment and the simplification of regulatory procedures. 🔹 Practical projects implemented by Ukrainian municipalities already demonstrate the effectiveness of the Solar + BESS model. For example, Zhytomyr Water Utility installed 2.3 MW of solar generation, saving approximately €150,000 in 2025, and is currently developing an energy island combining 1.5 MW of solar capacity with 6 MWh of battery storage. In Cherkasy, three energy islands are under construction with a combined inverter capacity of 4 MW and 12 MWh of battery storage.
🔹 Among Ukraine's key energy sector priorities, Vladyslav Sokolovskyi highlighted the rapid restoration of energy infrastructure, continued support for distributed generation, the extension of tax incentives for investors, and further simplification of grid connection procedures.

As Vladyslav Sokolovskyi noted:
"Ukraine is not simply rebuilding its energy system. We are creating a new energy architecture in which solar generation, battery energy storage systems, and distributed generation form the foundation of the country's energy resilience while creating new opportunities for investment." We sincerely thank the organizers of the Intersolar Europe Conference 2026 for the opportunity to present Ukraine's experience in developing a modern, resilient energy sector and to discuss prospects for further international cooperation in renewable energy.
